February 25 Recap
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
(Matthew 5:4)
This month has been an incredibly difficult month for the church and Pastor Jonathan has taken at least one funeral every week of families who have been bereaved in our community. One our members, Mina Currie’s sudden home call was a reminder to us all that every minute is in God’s hand. The Seniors citizens will miss Mina as she was so faithful in playing the keyboard each week and faithfully lived for the Lord for over 80 years of her life.
We also extend our sympathies to another member Olive after the passing of her partner Gerald who was so well known throughout the Woodvale community. To all the other families left broken-hearted, we pray for God’s comfort.
As well there have been many in the church who have battled illness, and the list seems never ended. We pray for God’s peace for all of those who need a special touch from the Lord currently.
On Sunday mornings Pastor Jonathan began a new series titled “The Cries of the Cross” and continued the Teaching Tuesday series on 1 Thessalonians. Meanwhile on Sunday evenings Reach Out is taking a little break and Pastor Steve has continued the series on Peter and Discipleship Explored.
Pastor Steve again has had a variety of opportunities to go into the schools. Alongside David Dickson from Shankill Community Fellowship Steve had the opportunity to explain to the children what is like to be a Pastor at the Springhill Inspire careers day. Pastor Steve also took an assembly in Glenwood Primary School and the SU groups in Forth River Primary and the Girls Model.
We are thankful to God for all the opportunities to go into the schools and for everything that is going on in the church.
