May 25 Recap

2 Timothy 2:12- For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

Throughout May there has been a lot of sorrow and loss. Bobby Topping who faithfully attended the church each Sunday morning and the Senior Citizens passed away- his presence will be deeply missed. We also mourn the passing of Thomas, Isobel’s husband and Betty’s brother as well Ruth Naomi’s beloved sister. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families in our church and community during this difficult time.

There has also been so much to give thanks to God for in the last month and some of the highlights we have already shared:

With all the youth work taking a break, we are so thankful to each of our volunteers and pray they will enjoy the summer break.

Pastor Steve has been busy taking RE lessons preparing P7s for moving to their new school alongside Emma-Jayne from Woodvale Methodist Church. This month they took lessons in Blackmountain, Springfield and Edenbrooke Primary schools. Pastor Steve also spoke at an assembly in Edenbrooke and the SU group at the Girls Model.

Wheatfield Primary visited the church to learn about Amy Carmichael and the same week a group from Saintfield Road Presbyterian Church also came to learn about her story. Pastor Jonathan had the opportunity to share with a lady who travelled from Sri Lanka to visit the church. Again, we thank God for the legacy that Amy left behind and for the privilege to share her story.

We had a missionary visit on Tuesday 13th from Myles Turtle representing Wycliffe Bible Translators. It was encouraging learning about their ministry and Myles challenged the church not to take for granted having the Bible in their own language.

We had two dedication services during the month. On 11th we gave thanks for Jesse Billy Graham (Frank’s great grandson) and pray that he would grow up to be a great evangelist like his namesake. The second was on 25th when we celebrated Gerogie Wilkinson (Margaret’s great niece) and again pray that she would come to love the Lord as Saviour.

We are looking forward to the 1st June which will celebrate Kidz & Youth Reach Prize-giving Day, 8th will be the church Gift Day and 15th Father’s Day. If you want to know any more details about these services, please speak to Pastor Jonathan or Steve and continue to pray for God’s blessing!
