October 25 Recap
1 Peter 3:18- For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,
October has been a busy and blessed month at The Welcome as Glen, Chantelle, Craig and Etta all came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!
On Sunday mornings, Pastor Jonathan continued his series on the life of Joseph, while on Sunday evenings, Pastor Steve led us through Fly Through the Bible. Teaching Tuesdays also continued with Pastor Jonathan’s studies in the book of Daniel. If you’ve missed any of these sessions, remember you can always catch up on our YouTube channel.
All of our ministries — including Stauros, Senior Citizens, Thrive, Friday Night Club, Kidz Reach, and Youth Reach — have continued as normal, with a short break for the Halloween half-term. We’re so thankful for each of our leaders and the unique gifts God has given them to serve Him faithfully in these areas.
Pastor Steve has been active in local schools once again. The Girls’ Model Scripture Union has restarted, with over 60 pupils attending each Thursday lunchtime — praise God! He also had the opportunity to visit Cliftonville Integrated and Blackmountain Primary Schools to take assemblies and share the message of hope.
Pastor Steve was invited to speak at the Bangor Congregational Church Women’s Fellowship, where he shared about the lasting legacy of Amy Carmichael and the ongoing work of The Welcome. It was a wonderful afternoon of fellowship, and we continue to pray that the Lord will bless their ministry.
Our Tennessee team had a fantastic time serving the Lord during their trip. We praise God for His protection as they travelled, for how He used them in children’s ministry, and for their support of those recovering from addiction. We look forward to hearing their full report on Saturday, 29th November at 7:30pm — everyone is welcome to join us!
This month has also been marked by sadness as we said goodbye to Jimmy Coulter. Jimmy was well known throughout the Shankill and faithfully attended our Sunday morning services for several years. We will deeply miss him in our church and community. Please continue to pray for his family and for all those who have been bereaved in recent weeks.
To end the month, it was a special joy for Pastor Jonathan to officiate the wedding of Karen Irvine and Michael Bell on Friday 31st October, right here at the church. Jonathan has known Karen for many years, and it was an honour to be part of such a meaningful day.
As we move into November, we’re excited for upcoming events, including our Coffee Morning on Saturday, 8th November, and the Christmas Fair on Saturday, 22nd November. We look forward to another month of fellowship, service, and celebration as we continue to see God at work in The Welcome!
