September 26 Recap

Everyone is Welcome at the Welcome

September 26 Recap

Psalm 136:1- Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

September has been a busy and memorable month in the life of the Welcome with so much to give thanks to God for.

The first Sunday of September was one full of surprises as the church celebrated 20 years of Pastor Jonathan’s ministry of pastoring the church. Then on the final Sunday of the month at Reach Out at the Welcome, Pastor Jonathan shared how the Lord has been faithful throughout those 20 years. We give thanks to God for His faithfulness, and all the Lord has done through Jonathan over these last two decades.

On Sunday 27th September, we celebrated another very special anniversary. Sadie McCracken, the longest-serving member of the Welcome, shared her testimony of how she came to faith in Christ 60 years ago, at the age of 23. It was such an encouragement to hear of the Lord’s goodness throughout a lifetime of following Him.

Pastor Jonathan recommenced his Sunday morning series looking at the Psalms of Ascent from Psalm 120-134. Pastor Steve has continued his Sunday evening series looking at the book of 1 John. Teaching Tuesday also resumed with Pastor Jonathan beginning a new series on the adventures of Abraham. We trust that all this Bible teaching will be a blessing and encouragement as we continue our journey of faith.

All the various ministries are back up and running again and it is a delight to see each one continue to flourish and grow as we seek to honour God and make Him known. Thrive also enjoyed a special day away at the end of the month.

Pastor Steve is grateful for the opportunities to return to local schools, taking assemblies in Glenwood and Edenbrooke Primary Schools. While Pastor Jonathan as the chaplain of Woodvale Football Club has a fantastic opportunity to give out 200 Bibles to the young people who are a part of the club.

September also brought some special family occasions in the life of the church. Frank and Iris McAllister renewed their wedding vows after 40 years of marriage and we had the joy of celebrating the dedication of Carol Millar’s great grandson Kalel.

September has certainly been a long and busy month, but through it all we are so grateful to God for His love, goodness and help.

Yet, among all the special moments perhaps the greatest highlight of the month was seeing Bill and Anne surrender their lives to the Lord. For this, above everything else we give God all the praise and glory, for His mercy endures forever!
