April 26 Recap
Matthew 3:16-17- 16 When He had been baptised, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
April has been an extremely busy and encouraging month in the life of the church, and many highlights have already been shared throughout the month:
- Church Breakfast
- Eight people were baptised on Easter Sunday
- FIEC held its first local conference in Belfast
- Thrive Residential
- Jerry & Vasanthakumari, the directors of the Dohnavour Fellowship, visited the church for the first time
- Pastor Jonathan concluded his Teaching Tuesday series on the Fruit of the Spirit and began another looking at the Sermon on the Mount.
- Blackmountain P5 visited the church and learned about the life and legacy of Amy Carmichael.
Throughout the month we also had three dedication services where we gave thanks to God for Addison, Ivyanna, Luca and Josie. We continue to pray for twins Charlie & Cobie, whose dedication service had to be postponed due to illness. It is such a privilege to pray for these young lives, and we pray that they would be raised to know the truth of God’s Word.
Pastor Steve was busy again in the local schools following the Easter break. He shared his testimony in the Girl’s Model and encouraged the girls to consider the faithfulness of God. He took an assembly in Glenwood and led P7 RE lessons in Springfield Primary school. In addition he had the opportunity to join Kerry Connolly, Scripture Union Northern Ireland worker, on a prayer walk around local schools. It was a fantastic opportunity to pray for pupils, staff and the wider community.
We extend our sympathies to the Townsley family after the passing of Leta, and we also pray for God’s comfort upon the McQuaide family after the passing of Bobby.
As we look ahead to May, we are praying for wisdom at the church Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 12th May. We are also looking forward to the Saturday 16th May when we will have the Mad Hatters coffee morning from 10.30-12.30pm. Later in the afternoon there is a special ladies’ outreach event with Pamela Brown speaking at 4pm. Pamela shared her testimony at Reach Out on 26th April and we look forward to hearing what the Lord has laid on her heart to share with the ladies.
