June 26 Recap
Psalm 46:1- “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
As we look back over the month of June, our Youth Leaders are right in the middle of our Holiday Bible Club. We have been delighted to welcome 60-70 children each evening, and we look forward to the final two nights of a wonderful week together.
Throughout June, we have been blessed to share in a variety of activities and events, including:
- The Pre-Loved Sale
- The Senior Citizens’ Outing to Coleman’s Garden Centre
- P7 It’s Your Move lessons
- Celebrating Father’s Day
On Sunday mornings, Pastor Jonathan began a new teaching series exploring the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120–134). Already, we have been encouraged and reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness as we journey through these special psalms together.
Teaching Tuesday concluded for the summer break on 30th June as Pastor Jonathan finished the series on the Beatitudes. The studies will resume on Tuesday 1st September, when Pastor Jonathan will continue leading us through the remainder of the Sermon on the Mount.
On Sunday evenings, Pastor Steve concluded our series on the book of Judges. It has been a fascinating study, as we explored some of the lesser-known individuals whom God used to bring deliverance to His people.
On Sunday 28th June, it was a privilege to welcome Cheryl Eagleson, who shared her powerful testimony of how God transformed her life. Cheryl spoke of being rescued from addiction and how the Lord now enables her to minister to and share her faith with others facing similar struggles. We give God all the glory for His saving grace.
Pastor Jonathan also had the privilege of officiating at the wedding of Ricky and Shelley Greenhill (Sisi Chambers’ daughter). We pray that God will richly bless them as they begin married life together and that He will continue to lead and guide them in the years ahead.
During the month, we were saddened by the news that Rab Kane had been called home to be with the Lord. While we will greatly miss Rab’s presence among us, we thank God that he is now in His presence. We are especially grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness to Rab throughout the past nine months as he courageously battled cancer.
We also extend our heartfelt sympathy to Charlie and Betty Mullan, Joel, Edith and Hannah following the passing of Charlie’s sister, Lily. We give thanks for the assurance that she is absent from the body and present with the Lord. We continue to pray for both families, as well as for all those throughout the Woodvale community who are grieving at this time.
As we look ahead to the summer months, we pray that everyone will enjoy a time of rest and refreshment. We would encourage everyone to continue gathering with us for our Sunday morning and evening services, Tuesday evening Prayer Meeting, and Thursday morning Hour of Prayer. May we all find renewed strength and rest in God as we seek Him together throughout the summer.
